You can now buy a golden donut in Williamsburg for $100

Apparently there are some people out there who would have gone ahead and eaten the golden ticket had they discovered it in their Willy Wonka chocolate bars.

Hence this $100 golden donut from the Williamsburg eatery Manila Social. Not only is it leafed in 24k gold, the donut has icing made from Cristal champagne and is infused with champagne jelly. Yum?

And no, Golden Cristal Ube Donuts are not just vanity items on the menu because people have actually been ordering them — dozens of them in fact. Not even the owner of Manila Social anticipated that, telling First We Feast, “I didn’t know people would go and order a dozen [of these] at a time! But then again, it is New York, and there are people willing to put down a grand for a dozen doughnuts.”

To put this in perspective, a perfectly good donut at Dunkin Donuts costs approximately $1.24, or about 80 times less than this monstrosity.

Sadly, this is not the first gold covered champagne-infused dessert we’ve spotted around town; just last month, we saw these “limited edition” champagne gummy bears with gold accents at the new Sugarfina location in midtown selling for — you guessed it — $100.
