There’s a new record for the most money ever paid at auction for a car. Last week, it was announced that a 1957 Ferrari was poised to sell for a record price, and indeed it did, fetching more than $35 million.
The buyer was real estate developer, Brian Ross, owner of Ross Development in Cortland, Ohio, a source, told CNBC.
The 1957 Ferrari 335 Sport Scaglietti was sold in Paris at an Artcurial Motorcars auction for roughly 32 million euros, or $35.7 million.
The legendary sports car participated in the Sebring 12 Hours race, the Mille Miglia race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, finished fourth in the Swedish Grand Prix, finished second in the Venezuela Grand Prix and won the Cuba Grand Prix. Famed racecar driver Stirling Moss drove it in many of those races.
