Philanthropist and dog lover Jean Shafiroff hosted a pre-gala kickoff cocktail reception for more than 100 people at her Park Avenue home last week. The event precedes the New York City Mission Society’s Annual Champions for Children benefit in April.

“The Mission Society has been improving the lives of children in New York City for more than 200 years,” said Jean Shafiroff, board member and gala chair. “What I love most about the Mission Society is that all of us work together with a common mission to combat poverty and create opportunity.”
Other attendees at the February 23rd reception included: Stanley Rumbough; Cornelia Guest; Jay Moorhead; Chele Chiavacci; Patrick Vatel; LTC Francis W. Kairson, Jr. (Ret.); Laura Flavin; Lucia Hwong Gordon; Edgar Batista; Flo Anthony; Hector E.
