Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris aren’t the only ones celebrating an anniversary this month. Christie’s auction house has been selling super expensive art (and other objects) for 10 years in Dubai, and naturally they’re marking the occasion with a series of stellar auctions sales.
The focus of the sales will be, as expected, Middle Eastern art, but there will also be watches, as well as a handbag and jewelry auction — a first for Christie’s in Dubai. In case you’re interested in making a trip out there, here are some of the highlights from the sales.
Patek Phillipe Watch in 18k pink gold
Estimated Price: $130,000-$230,000
Part of the Important Watches sale (on March 15), this extremely complicated watch has 100 pieces, including 29 jewels.
Cartier Watch in Diamond and 18k gold
Estimated Price: $30,000 – $50,000
The parrot imagery on this extremely rare watch is made from wood parquetry.
“Sarajevo” by Omar El-Nagdi
Estimated Price: $400,000 – $600,000
This is “the most ambitious work” produced by the Egyptian master painter El-Nagdi, who wanted to depict the horrors of war. It is a little more than 10′ by 35′.
Al Aabour (The Crossing of the Suez Canal) by Hamed Ewais
Estimated Price: $300,000 – $400,000
Though this painting is presumably to uplift the Egyptian worker, we don’t think any blue collar workers are buying it.
Nameless by Afruz Amighi
Estimated Price: $80,000 – $120,000
Yes, you will need space to display this 3D work, but wouldn’t it be worth it?
Wardrobe Trunk by Louis Vuitton with a humidor and display shelves
Estimated Price: $25,000 – $45,000
You don’t want to struggle too much during your safari treks; keep your cigars safe in a special glass compartment.
Harry Winston Emerald and Diamond ring
Estimated price: $70,000-$100,000
She’ll definitely say yes to you if you propose using this mother!
