Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid has designed an eight-piece jewelry collection for Danish design house Georg Jensen.
Her collection will debut at the Baselworld watch and jewelry show in Switzerland later this week and includes a twisted cuff and a ring that fits over two fingers. The collection is created from sterling silver, and black rhodium set with black diamonds and will launch in stores in September.
The shape and design of the pieces reference some of Hadid’s most famous buildings.
“Working with Georg Jensen presented an opportunity to express our ideas in different scales and through different media,” said Hadid in a statement.
This isn’t Hadid’s first foray jewelry collaborations. In the past the architect has worked with Swiss goldsmiths Caspita, for a series of latticed rings and bracelets known as the Skein Collection. She also designed the Glace Collection – a series of abstract, organic, crystal pieces – for Swarovski.
But of course she’s most famous for her buildings – including 520 West 28th Street, Hadid’s first addition to the New York City skyline.
