Got a spare second home? You can use it to stay in one of these amazing properties for free

Got a spare second home lying around in a prime location? Then you might be able to use it to stay in an equally fabulous home somewhere else. 3rd Home is an “exclusive private club for luxury second homeowners,” which lets those lucky enough to own a fabulous second home to rent it out to other people. All homes are vetted and must be accepted into the club (so your little shack in the Adirondacks probably wouldn’t make the cut).

Rather than receiving rental income for letting people stay in your home, however, the service provides you with a certain amount of credit to rent out someone else’s house in the club in return. The amount of that credit varies based on how nice your home is and what period of time you choose to rent it out (you’ll get extra points for renting your Aspen house out during Christmas, for instance). As Inside Hook put it, 3rd Home is basically a “timeshare exchange of the 1 percent.” But like, a hundred thousand times better.

And no surprise, some of the properties listed are pretty, pretty fab. Below a few of our favorites.

Château de Lalande DE LALANDE ~ Crozon sur Vauvre, France

Yes, in fact, this is a 16th Century château, that has 13 bedrooms and plenty of space for all your favorite people to come visit. And if that’s not enough for you, it was once owned by Louis XIV’s cousin.

Alegria Mykonos ~ Kalafati, Greece

Got a big wedding plan? This amazing space in Mykonos has a garden that can accommodate 700 guests (and a helipad in case they want to leave in a hurry). The one caveat to this property is that it comes with seven mandatory staff members, which brings with it an additional cost of $1,000-per-day. Though, come on, that’s totally worth it, right?

Luxury Villa Bali ~ Canggu , Indonesia

There’s plenty to do at this villa, which is conveniently located right next to one of the best courses in Asia, Nirvana Golf course. The home also comes with a private movie theater, tennis court, two swimming pools and a helipad.

Casa Carino ~ San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

Talk about details! This home has mirrored stairways with wrought iron and a dome of beveled glass.
