Rocker Lenny Kravitz tapped to design interiors in Nolita condominium

Many may be unaware that Lenny Kravitz – of “American Woman,” “Fly Away” and trouser splitting fame – also owns and operates a design company, Kravitz Design.

It was announced earlier today that Kravitz and his company are designing all of the interiors at the pre-construction condominium at 75 Kenmare Street in Nolita.

“My vision for 75 Kenmare centers on a layered environment, drawing inspiration from the eccentric Downtown vibe while integrating elegant materials, such as unique natural stones, bonded metal and aged oak,” Kravitz said in a press release. “Nolita has a style, rhythm and culture all its own, and we’ve created an environment that feels contemporary and refined, but also warm and inviting.”

Once complete, the building – that is currently an empty garage – will house 35 one-to-four-bedroom homes ranging in price from roughly $1.7 million to over $12 million.

Kravitz Design was launched in 2003 and in an interview with the New York Times in 2013 the rocker described his aesthetic as comfortable, sexy, ethnic and sophisticated.

Along with announcing Kravitz Design’s involvement with the Nolita project, today’s new teaser website said Douglas Elliman’s brokers and Million Dollar listing star’s Fredrik Eklund and John Gomes are handling sales and marketing.

Even prior to construction, which is set to begin later this month, the project had musical ties – Kanye West threw a launch party there in February.
