Well this sure puts that $30 bottomless brunch special you consumed this weekend to shame!
The St. Regis in Abu Dhabi announced today the beginning of a new “Brunch in the Clouds” program, in which 50 diners can pay about $110 ($180 with champagne) for the privilege of chowing down in the hotel’s Abu Dhabi Suite, known as “the World’s Highest Suspended Suite.”
The brunch will take place on the last Friday of every month (skipping June for Ramadan). Butlers will greet all guests in the lobby, and bring them up to the suite on the 48th and 49th floors, where every room of the 12,000-square-foot space will be devoted to a different dining experience: there will be a candy room; a cheese and dessert room; a caviar ice-bar; an oyster room; chef stations; a private bar; and massages and manicures.
The general manager of the hotel said in a statement that he started the brunch because he wanted “to engage more with our local community and to let them see the suite for themselves.” While charging $110 for a meal may seem like a strange way to do that, the suite costs about $40,000-a-night to actually rent, so this really is a more democratic option. Oh the world we live in.
