Katy Perry 1, Nuns 0

Katy Perry may be able to proceed with her purchase of a former Catholic convent in Los Feliz, California, after a Los Angeles Judge ruled that attempts by the convent’s nuns to sell to a developer were out of line, reports Page Six.

The convent

The argument stemmed over who has the legal right to sell the Spanish villa-style estate.

Perry has been attempting to buy the property for $14.5 million and had the approval of local archbishop Jose Gomez. However the nuns – who are not big Katy Perry fans – instead opted to sell to Dana Hollister, who planned to turn the site into a boutique hotel.

According to the LA Times the nuns’ biggest fear was that if the diocese cashed in on a sale, the sisters’ living expenses would not be covered, now their attorney is considering an appeal.
