Etihad is now the official airline of the fashion industry

Pack your Birkins! Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has announced that it is partnering with WME | IMG to become the official airline of the fashion industry.

As the New York Times points out, it’s kind of surprising it took so long for an airline to realize this was a huge business opportunity. After all, those who work in the fashion industry spend months at a time traveling, between ready-to-wear shows, resort shows and men’s shows. Now, they’ll be able to fly on a plane filled to the brim with all of their fashion friends!

According to the Times, fashion flyers on Etihad will receive gift bags filled with “fashion perks”; be able to stream the IMG fashion network on the TVs; and may even be able to watch live streams of fashion shows, in case they have to miss them on their way there.

It all sounds pretty nice. But still quite a long way from the airline’s $32,000 Residence suites. We assume only Anna Wintour herself will have access to those.
