Too lazy to exercise? Freeze your fat off instead

For those looking to get svelte without without eating healthier or exercising at all, boy do we have the solution for you. The trendiest treatment among the ladies who lunch set has become CoolSculpting, in which you sit in what looks like giant chilly La Z Boy, and fat is quite literally frozen off of your body.

Though the treatment was approved in 2010 by the FDA, according to Vogue, it is gaining traction now because it has been rebranded from being merely a fixer of trouble spots to being a safer and noninvasive alternative to liposuction. The idea for this treatment came from observations of children who developed dimples when they ate popsicles because the frozen suckers “were freezing and eliminating small pockets of fat cells.” You can’t make this stuff up.

But does it work? According to the experts who actually perform this treatment, it does work but it will take quite a few sessions for you to really notice results. And those results won’t be particularly dramatic either. “At best you get mild fat reduction—a slightly improved waistline, less bulging of any particular area that’s concerning. I would emphasize the word mild,” one plastic surgeon told Vogue

Of course, each of these treatments definitely add up in price. According to CoolSculpting’s website, treatment costs vary considerably depending on what you’re trying to freeze away, but the company says the usual cost of a procedure is $600 a pop.

A completely outrageous, super expensive treatment that only kind of works? We can’t wait for Gwyneth to try it!
