Former Secretary of State Colin Powell sells his pre-war UWS condo for $3M

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell has sold his Upper West Side condo apartment at 220 West 93rd Street for $2,815,000 million, according to city records. David Wagenheim and Cynthia Besteman of Halstead Properties had the listing.

Powell and his wife Alma bought the apartment in 2007 for $1,883,763. According to the listing, the apartment has two bedrooms (with an option to convert the dining room into a third), two and a half bathrooms and was recently gut-renovated. The spacious pre-war apartment has all the conveniences of a modern space, with a chef’s kitchen that features a Wolf range, Sub Zero refrigerator, marble and walnut countertops.

In addition to serving as Secretary of State under George W. Bush from 2001 to 2005 (the first African American to hold that position), Colin Powell served as a four star general in the United States Army.

Alma Powell is an audiologist and the chair of the children’s foundation, America’s Promise.
