On Wednesday night, developer Allen Gross, CEO of GFI Capital Resources Group, welcomed guests to dinner, cocktails and previews of The Beekman Hotel and Residences.
The Beekman, the historic 1881 landmark property located at 5 Beekman Street and celebrated for its nine-story atrium, will soon become The Beekman Hotel. Meanwhile, The Beekman Residents will be next door, in a newly built 51-story luxury condominium tower set to be completed in winter 2016.
The event commenced with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on the top floors of the atrium, with a performance that included ballads sung by members of the Young People’s Chorus accompanied by Grammy Award winning soprano, Hila Plitmann.
Over 100 guests attended the four-course dinner – which previewed dishes from Tom Colicchio’s upcoming restaurant, Fowler & Wells. Among those attending were ABC news anchor Dan Abrams, restaurateur Serge Becker, photographers Michael Avedon and Antoine Verglas, Pete Cashmore the CEO and founder of Mashable, artist Cheryl Dunn, designer Tony Ingrao and Rus Yusupov the co-founder of Vine.
