Having trouble deciding whether to eat-in or take out? For residents of two new tony developments, the best of both worlds may soon be at hand.
Two new West Side residential towers — 160 Leroy and Via 57West — will have their own upscale on-site eateries.
Rumor has it that the 57-unit condo on West Street in the West Village designed by Herzon & de Meuron and conceptualized by Ian Schrager may feature a restaurant by Jean-Georges Vongericten.
Likewise, further uptown, things will be just as tasty. Rental development Via 57West a 42-story behemoth by Bjarke Ingels, will house a yet-unnamed 7,000-square-foot eatery from the Livanos Restaurant Group known for its Oceana restaurant in Midtown, featuring seafood.
Developers seem to have cooked up a winning combination of residential and retail — with the rationale being that the way to a buyer’s heart is through his stomach.
Restaurant owner Nick Livanos concurs, telling Gotham, that the spot will play “an integral role in the development of the area,” as “a place for residents and visitors to gather.”
