Greenwich, Connecticut is home to millionaires, billionaires and, it seems, a ring of thieves who are currently stealing all of their Range Rovers.
Their most recent victim? Tommy Hilfiger and his wife Dee Ocleppo. The fashion designer told Page Six that the thieves broke into home and took his $130,000 black Range Rover Autobiography. The car was parked in the driveway and the keys were in it, but Hilfiger says his home is gated.
Lest you think these are just regular car thieves, Hilfiger says looking at the security footage, it is clear they only had eyes for the Rover. “There was an Escalade SUV in the driveway, which they ignored, and other cars locked in the garage.” His neighbors also had their Rover stolen, he says.
And apparently, the police are onto this, telling Hilfiger that there is a “Range Rover ring” in the area. Previously, Porsches were the primary targets.
But what really seems to have shocked Hilfiger is that crime could happen in his “idyllic and peaceful” (and rich) town at all. “Our house is already heavily alarmed, but after this, we’ll definitely be beefing up security,” he said.
