Record-breaking $154M home hits the market in China

A newly built home in Suzhou, China, hit the market last month with a record-breaking asking price of 1 billion Chinese yuan (approximately $154 million), making it the most expensive home to ever hit the market in mainland China.

According to Mansion Global, the house – which took developers Sunac China Holdings Limited three years to build – sits on a private island on the south shore of Suzhou’s Dushu Lake.

“It is so far the highest luxury listing we have in China,” Jim Hao, vice chairman of Beijing Sotheby’s International Realty, told Mansion Global.

It comes with 32 bedrooms, 32 bathrooms, a wine cellar, a pool, a pond (possibly multiple ponds) and, unsurprisingly, some serious lake views.

Juan Zhao Feng of Beijing Sotheby’s International Realty has the listing

Although this may be the most expensive home in mainland China, its price tag is dwarfed by last month’s sale of a $270 million home in Hong Kong.
