Just in time for back-to-school everything, New York Magazine takes us on a weird and wacky journey curating a bunch of dorm-room-porn pictures from social media that are going viral. It is not as sexy as the term may sound. The publication chronicles some of the rooms co-eds at the University of Mississippi, or Ole Miss, have fashioned that seem fit for dual princesses.
It apparently started off with two freshman girls, Lindy Goodson and Abby Bozeman, who pimped out their room with “plush white headboards, plush white rugs, plush white ottomans, plush white pillows, a nightstand-microwave combo” and a sign that reads “Rebels”. The response on Twitter was amazeballs with the general consensus being #goals. Buzzfeed reported on it and soon it became a competition, with other co-eds also wanting to major in dorm design show off their own opulent digs.
Common themes include over-the-bed monograms, graphic signs including words and phrases like “Hoity Toity”, “Woke Up Like This”, and “Hey Y’all”, matching twin bed sets because #twinning is key and pink everything.
“It’s really competitive,” Bozeman told BuzzFeed. “So I was like, we definitely have to make ours look good. A lot of them here are done up.”
We can only hope they put as much attention to their studies as they do to their decor. But for now they get an A for annoying. [NYM]
