Now that’s what we call a ripoff! At an exclusive and celebrity-filled Hillary Clinton fundraiser in the Hamptons on Tuesday night, Sir Paul McCartney did a performance for the starry crowd — but that doesn’t mean he got to go for free.
During his set, he joked that “I have performed before and not gotten paid. But this is the first time in my entire life when I have paid to hear myself sing,” he then went on to clarify, “Just kidding. I’m not allowed to contribute in your elections. But this is one when I would if I could.” Tickets to the event started at $25,000 and went up to $100,000.
The event was held at Jimmy Buffet’s house, and he and Jon Bon Jovi also performed.
Hillary raised $3.6 million at the event, which was attended by Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Sandy Gallin, Harvey Weinstein, Richard Meier, Jane Rosenthal, Andy Cohen and Agnes Gund.
Hillary was also in a jokey mood, reportedly telling the crowd, “The way I look at the next 70 days of this election is pretty simple. I am all that stands between you and the apocalypse.” [Page Six]
