Melania Trump is suing British newspaper The Daily Mail, along with US blogger Webster Tarpley for $150 million over allegations that she worked an escort.
According to the BBC, the article on the Daily Mail’s website – published August 20 – quoted claims published in Slovenian magazine Suzy that the modeling agency Trump was working for in the 1990s also functioned as an escort agency.
The print version of the story quoted Slovenian journalist Bojan Pozar, who claimed Trump had posed for nude photos in New York in 1995 and alleged that she had met Donald Trump that year, three years before their reported first meeting in 1998.
Meanwhile Tarpley alleged that Mrs Trump was “reportedly obsessed by fear of salacious revelations by wealthy clients from her time as a high-end escort,” and had suffered a, “full-blown nervous breakdown.”
“These defendants made several statements about Mrs Trump that are 100% false and tremendously damaging to her personal and professional reputation,” said Trump’s lawyer Charles Harder in a statement.
Harder estimates Trump’s damages are $150 million.
