For certain foodies out there, few times of the year are as exciting as white truffle season. The delicacy — which is currently selling for $230/ounce — is only available from September through December, meaning that those who love it better get their cookbooks (and their checkbooks) out soon if they want to catch a taste.
This year, Urbani, the world’s largest distributor of truffles, has teamed up with a number of New York restaurants to create the city’s first White Truffle Festival. For one week in November (5th-12th), these places will offer exclusive menus and dishes that feature white truffles and come with wine pairings from Piedmont (where many truffles are found). The full list of restaurants is not finalized yet, but so far includes Ai Fiori, the Armani Ristorante and Rosemary’s.
The current list of participants can be browsed here and reservations can be made directly through the restaurants.
