Debutantes just aren’t what they used to be. And maybe that’s a good thing.
“In the past the Debutante Ball was about girls finding a husband, but now it is about networking, connecting and having a good time at a family event,” the director of the Ball told the Post.
The International Debutante Ball was founded in 1954, and this year will be held on December 29th at the Pierre Hotel. The price of admission is $22,000, and all the young ladies must wear white.
Though the main dance of the night will be the waltz, it’s not possible for youngins these days to have fun at a dance unless they can twerk during it. And apparently, that is acceptable behavior now: “I am not sure of what twerking is, but if she wants to do that on the dance floor, that is OK,” the director cautiously told Page Six. “But not during her introduction.” [Page Six]
