A Chelsea penthouse that was once owned by the actress Mariska Hargitay, otherwise known as everyone’s favorite TV detective, has hit the market asking for $14 million.
The 4,819-square-foot duplex, at Sixth Avenue’s O’Neill Building, comes with three bedrooms, a cupola, three terraces, a large master bedroom suite with walk-in closets, high ceilings, newly-refinished hardwood flooring, and views of the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings.
Hargitay, who plays Olivia Benson on “Law & Order: SVU”, bought the home in 2007 for $7.1 million and sold it a year later for $8.2 million, city records show.
The buyers – and today’s sellers – are Maurice and Ewa Laboz.
Maurice, a Manhattan landlord who controlled Regal Real Estate, died last year. His two daughters are reportedly each set to inherit $10 million when they turn 35, however they can rake in their share a little early if they hit certain targets.
In an almost backwards dowry, his eldest daughter will receive a payout of $500,000 for getting married, but only if her future betrothed signs a prenup agreeing to leave her money alone. She can also get $750,000 if she graduates from an “accredited university” and completes a 100-word essay explaining her intentions with the money.
Plus if either daughter has children and decides not to work outside the home, she will receive a cut of her inheritance yearly — but only if the child was born in wedlock.
Laboz’s wife, Ewa, who he was in the process of divorcing at the time of his death, received nothing in the will. It is unclear if she will benefit from the sale of the penthouse.
Robert Falcone of Douglas Elliman has the listing.
