The Horticultural Society of New York honors Piper Kerman at Luncheon: PHOTOS

On Tuesday afternoon, members of the Horticultural Society of New York gathered to honor “Orange is the New Black” writer Piper Kerman at 583 Park Avenue for their 23rd annual luncheon.

Kerman received the Bobby Margolis Award of Excellence because of her work on prison reform. The Society runs a horticultural therapy program at Rikers Island Correctional Facility. In total, the event had 220 guests and raised over $200,000. The event began with a panel discussion between Kerman and the director of the Rikers program, Hilda Krus, then guests mingled during a reception and silent auction and finally sat for lunch.

In addition to Kerman, notable guests of the event included: Kamie Lightburn, Alexia Leuschen, LLNYC-cover star Nicole Miller, Norma Dana, Frances Schultz, Warrie Price, Missey Condie and Karen Condie, Marianne Engle, Lee Anderson and Susan Gutfreund.
