For $4.3M and a song, “Hairspray” composer has a new Nomad spread

There is plenty of room for a piano in the 3,000-square-foot co-op Grammy award-winning composer Marc Shaiman now calls home.

Shaiman co-wrote and composed music for the Broadway musical “Hairspray,” “A Few Good Men,” and “When Harry Met Sally.” Perhaps his next hit will be written in the $4.3 million apartment at 38 West 26th Street, that according to public records, he just picked up.

His newly acquired home boasts three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a chef’s kitchen, lots of marble and “a rarely available 60-foot great room,” according to the listing.

The sellers have owned the apartment since at least the early 2000s, but it’s not clear how much they paid for it.
