“Monk” star buys UWS apartment with giant terrace for $4M

Tony Shalhoub, the actor who played the lead character on USA’s “Monk,” has just bought an apartment at 15 West 81st Street for nearly $4 million, according to city records.

Shalhoub is best known for his work on “Monk,”  in which he played a brilliant police detective in San Francisco who suffers from an intense case of OCD The show ran from 2002 to 2009 and Shalhoub won three Emmy awards, two SAG awards and a Golden Globe Award for his performance. Shalhoub’s wife, Brooke Adams, who is also listed on the apartment sale, is an actress who starred in the 1978 remake of “Invasion of the Body Snatchers.”

The apartment the couple bought is a pre-war co-op with two bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. It has a 60-foot terrace with a “side view” of Central Park, a gallery, large space for entertaining, herringbone floors and a butler’s pantry. Both of the bedrooms are considered “master suites” and have ensuite bathrooms.
