“Lord of the Rings” director Peter Jackson is now in contract to sell his $19.95 million penthouse spread at 155 Franklin Street in Tribeca, according to StreetEasy. The listing encompasses two side-by-side duplex lofts that Jackson purchased in 2008 for $17.35 million, which he did not fully combine.
Neither the contract price nor the buyer’s identity was immediately available. The sale entered contract last Wednesday, StreetEasy shows.
The mystery buyer is getting quite the package: The spread measures 8,309 square feet inside, and comes with wrap-around roof terraces totaling nearly 6,000 square feet. There are 12-foot ceilings, exposed brick and wide-plank flooring.
There were three separate listings for the home: One was for the combination — which is in contract — and two were listings for each penthouse apartment. After Jackson couldn’t find a buyer for the combination, which originally hit the market for $21.5 million last May, he decided to list each unit separately in December. The larger of the two homes, a seven-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom unit that measures 5,869 square feet, had an asking price of $14.85 million. The other, weighing in at three bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms and 2,440 square feet, asked $5.1 million.
Jackson lowered the price of the combination listing to $19.95 million this past November, according to StreetEasy.
