Retro subway cars are back this Sunday

No one is too good for a dose of holiday nostalgia. So hop aboard the “Shoppers Special” — it might be the only time you smile on while riding the subway.

The vintage train is composed of R1/9 subway cars, also known as City Cars, which ran the rails from the 1930s to the 1970s, according to Tracks.

The trains will run for four consecutive Sundays between Thanksgiving and the week before Christmas.

The “Shoppers Special” runs via the 6 Av Line between 2 Av and Queens Plaza. It leaves 2 Av at 10:05 a.m., 11:13 a.m., 1:03 p.m., 2:33 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. It leaves Queens Plaza at 10:44 a.m., 12:14 p.m., 1:44 p.m., 3:14 p.m. and 4:44 p.m.
