Calling Harry Potter geeks with more money than God! An extremely rare copy of “The Tales of Beedle the Bard,” created, hand-written and illustrated by the woman herself, JK Rowling, is about to hit the auction block. Sotheby’s will auction the book in its “English Literature, History, Children’s Books and Illustrations” sale on 13 December. They’re estimating a sale price between £300,000-500,000 (roughly $377,430-$629,250).
The book is one of only seven that J.K Rowling produced. It was presented to British publisher Barry Cunningham, who famously accepted the first Harry Potter book for publication, according to Sotheby’s.
Cunningham played an instrumental role in launching J.K Rowling’s career and Rowling dedication the book to him. The inscription reads: “To Barry, the man who thought an overlong novel about a boy wizard in glasses might just sell… THANK YOU”.
Cunningham received the book on Christmas 2007. He described the gift as “unreal.”
And if Rowling’s hand-drawn illustrations aren’t enough, the book’s cover is adorned with semi-precious stones and a sterling silver mounted skull.
Happy bidding nerds!
