John Edwards lists NC estate that’s nearly as nice as his hair for $7M

Disgraced Democratic politician John Edwards has listed his enormous North Carolina estate for $6.9 million, according to the Wall Street Journal. It’s nearly as nice as his haircut.

The former Senator and Vice Presidential candidate purchased the land in Chapel Hill that the house sits on in 2004 for $1.32 million, and proceeded to build a 26,000-square-foot home on the property along with his late wife, Elizabeth. It has a full-sized basketball court, locker rooms for men and women, a sauna, handball court and a covered, heated swimming pool.

Edwards ran for Vice President in 2004 with John Kerry, and later conducted an unsuccessful Presidential campaign of his own. His campaign was largely foiled by the revelation that he had been having an extramarital affair with Rielle Hunter and had fathered a child with her. In 2011, he was charged with violating campaign finance laws to cover up the affair, but was found not-guilty on one charge and the other five charges against him were later dropped.

According to the Journal, Edwards started his own law firm after his presidential bid that is located in Raleigh, NC and San Diega, CA. He is selling the home due to the long commute. [WSJ]
