Leonardo DiCaprio has just nabbed a $23M Malibu spread

It’s safe to say that Leonardo DiCaprio has been bitten by the real estate bug this year.

Over here at LLNYC, our coverage on the Oscar winner could rival that of fellow celeb-turned-mogul Kylie Jenner — but where Jenner buys, DiCaprio sells. First he listed his Malibu beach house for just a pinch under $11 million. Then he listed a ranch-style pad in Studio City, which sold earlier this month for $2.2 million. And last, but by no means least, he bid farewell to his Greenwich Village eco-friendly apartment for $8 million.

With all that cash banked, and a somewhat deflated real estate portfolio, it was only a matter of time before the actor was in the market to snap up something new, and lo-and-behold, he’s done just that.

According to Variety, DiCaprio has just coughed up $23 million in an off-market deal for a 1.8 acre ocean-front property above Malibu’s Paradise Cove.

Information on his new acquisition is scarce. It was once owned by film and television producer Ridley Scott, and a prior listing for the spread claims that the mostly undeveloped lot then had a freshly renovated 610-square-foot cottage with one bedroom, one bathroom, and a viewing deck with panoramic coastline views.

Call us jaded, but we don’t think a one bedroom cottage will quite suit the star and his bevy of leggy lady-loves. After consulting our tea-leaves, we see a newly built eco-friendly estate in his future. [Variety]
