240 Centre Street #PH Little Italy, New York NY 10013

LLNYC's look at listings:

The ever-so-cool Police Building penthouse is not new to the market, but it does have a brand new price tag.

The penthouse is at the very top of the storied building and is spread across 5,500 square feet, and it now has an asking price of $27.9 million, down from $35 million.

The pad comes with a bucket-load of character: a spiral staircase, an elevator, a 25-foot-high circular living room, and easily most impressively of all - a cavernous clock dome. We got to witness it all for ourselves when we toured the pad back in March.

Its current owners are Ahmass Fakahany (the retired president of Merrill Lynch and the current CEO of the Altamarea Group) and Alsun Keogh (owner of an architecture and design firm.) But in the past designer Calvin Klein and tennis player Steffi Graf have called the spread home.

From 1909, right up until 1973, the building was the NYPD's headquarters, and then in 1988 the building was converted into luxury apartments; fashion designer Gemma Kahng recently sold hers for $2.9 million – slightly less than its $3.2 million asking price.

Herbert Chou of Warburg Realty and Linda G. Calka, LREB have the listing.
